Victoria Chapter Exhibition Overview
for Submitting Artists
Each year the Victoria Chapter of the FCA holds two adjudicated (juried) shows, one in the spring and another in the fall. These shows provide Active and Signature Members of the chapter with a venue to present their work to the public, a chance to measure their development over the past year, and an opportunity to compete for the honours of the show. As well, acceptance in a juried chapter show can help an artist meet the national requirements for Signature Membership status.
FCA online shows are hosted on FederationGallery.com, where art lovers can view and purchase juried artwork displayed in Victoria Chapter exhibitions.

Submitting Artwork to Victoria Chapter Shows
In order to submit artwork to Victoria Chapter shows you must be a member in good standing of the FCA. That is, you must have paid your annual dues to both the Victoria Chapter and national body, FCA Vancouver. If you are unsure of your status with the Victoria Chapter, contact Eric at [email protected]

Before the Show
The Call for Submissions, in addition to announcing the show, also provides important information on the size and number of pieces permitted by each artist; the rules related to previously shown work*; timeframes and important dates of the show; adjudication details, process and costs; and the deadline for submissions. Notification of Acceptance follows normally within a week.
Framing or matting your artwork may affect whether your artwork will be accepted in a show. See:
Accepted artworks must be delivered to a designated gallery at a time stipulated by the Victoria FCA. An Exhibition Contract must be completed and attached to one of the accepted pieces.
*The rules related to ‘previously shown work’ govern the number of times a single piece of work can be submitted and accepted.

During The Show
The Show Opening provides a focus for the presentation of awards and an opportunity for the public to meet the artists and view their work. Depending on where the show is located, we may ask members to take turns ‘sitting’ (volunteer supervision/sales etc.) for the show when there are no gallery staff in attendance.
It takes a substantial effort on the part of ALL members (whether they have art work accepted to the show or not) to make a show successful. Participation by all members at the opening reception helps support both the artists with work in the show and the Chapter in general. In addition, publicity for the show is dependent on everyone making an effort to promote the exhibition through their social media channels, newsletters, mailing lists, and invitations to family and friends, as well as to physically distribute the rack cards and posters produced for the event.
