Terms and Conditions for Victoria FCA Exhibitions
The following Terms and Conditions are provided for Victoria FCA membership who are preparing artwork for FCA exhibitions.
Definitions
Walk-in Gallery: A physical "brick and mortar" gallery space where artwork is collected and hung by Victoria Chapter's Exhibition Coordinator.
Online or Virtual Gallery: A digital gallery hosted on the federal FCA website and managed by Vancouver Chapter's Fine Art Consultant.
If your juried artwork is selected to display in a Victoria Chapter exhibition, you will be required to sign an Exhibition Contract. The contract consigns your artwork to the FCA for display and sales for the length of the show. It applies to both a walk-in gallery at a physical location, and online at www.FederationGallery.com and www.Artists.ca. The contract includes all the points listed below.

Walk-In and Online Gallery Shows
The following commission/payment terms will apply to each consigned artwork sold by FCA through their walk-in and online exhibitions, extending to the end of the exhibition dates, unless otherwise stated.
- Funds from online sales are received by the Federation in Vancouver, and distributed directly to the artist and Chapter. Artists retain 65% of their sale, 17.5% to the Victoria Chapter for promotional and exhibition costs, 17.5% to the Federation in Vancouver for administration and processing fees. Artwork purchased at the online gallery will be marked as “sold” at the walk-in gallery
- Funds from walk-in exhibition sales are received by the Federation in Victoria (or transacted by the exhibiting gallery). Artists retain 65% of their sale, 35% to Victoria Chapter or exhibiting gallery, as agreed by both parties. Artwork purchased at the walk-in gallery will be marked as "sold" on the online gallery.
- While the artist sets the sale price of their work, the FCA Federation Gallery Vancouver is at liberty to negotiate, for the purpose of sale, a discount of up to 10% off your declared sale price.
- Artists retain ownership of all work consigned to or represented by the FCA.
- While you, as artist, retain copyright to all consigned artwork, you agree that the FCA may use an image of your art for promotional purposes whether online or in print, for the promotion of the exhibition or for any other FCA function.
- You declare that the work you submit is your own, is original and not taken from another’s work.
- Artists cannot use any photo reference from professional or amateur photographer; reference photos must be taken by the artist and they must hold that copyright. Stock images can be used only as anatomical study and must be incidental to the completed work
- By signing the contract, you agree to not hold the FCA, their staff, volunteers and representatives responsible for damage or loss. You agree to maintain responsibility of any costs associated with loss or damage to artworks.
- By signing this contract, if listing this piece for sale, you agree to keep the work available for sale, for the duration of the exhibition dates.
- You agree to direct all sales inquiries about your pieces originating from the walk-in gallery exhibition dates to the FCA Victoria’s Exhibition Coordinator.
- You agree to direct all sales inquires about your pieces originating from the online exhibition dates to the FCA Vancouver's Fine Art Consultant via [email protected]
- When an online sale is made, the Fine Art Consultant will be in touch with you to arrange for delivery either directly to the client or to the Federation Gallery.
- When a sale is made through the walk-in gallery, the Exhibition Coordinator will be in touch with you to advise of the details of the sale.
- Following a sale, payment to you the artist will be processed approximately 30 days after receipt of payment from the Buyer to the FCA. This delay in payment is due to the FCA Federation Gallery's return policy.
- Acceptance of installment payment on a sale will be subject to agreement by the artist.
- Reasonable efforts are made to protect consigned artwork from accidental damage or breakage but artists are encouraged to maintain their own insurance for their artwork. You agree to not hold the FCA, their staff, volunteers, and representatives responsible for damage or loss. You agree to maintain responsibility of any costs associated with the loss or damage to artworks, hanging fixtures and frames.
- You (the artist) will retain responsibility for insurance on artwork while artwork is in transit or otherwise not on the premises of the FCA Federation Gallery and/or walk-in public gallery.
- Should the consigned artwork remain unsold at the end of the walk-in exhibition you must retrieve your artwork at the date and time noted in the Exhibition Schedule. You are responsible for arranging the collection/return delivery, and any of the associated costs.
